Keeping children out of harm’s way

The Safe Child Center serves children living in Coconino, Mohave, Yavapai, Navajo and Apache counties, including the American Indian Nations.

This child advocacy center opened in 1994 to serve children from birth through age 18. We also extend services to adults with developmental disabilities.

As a division of the Children’s Health Center, our staff is dedicated to reducing the stress children experience as victims of suspected crime.

In addition, we support the efforts of law enforcement and child protection agencies to ensure that children are treated with dignity and respect throughout the investigative process.

Talking with potential victims

If you suspect child abuse or a child discloses abuse, ask only the following four questions:

  • What happened?
  • Who did it?
  • When did it happen?
  • Where did it happen?

Do not ask any additional questions. However, do offer support and safety, and report the incident.

Call local law enforcement or the Child Abuse Hotline at 1-888-SOS-CHILD or 1-888-767-2445.
