Learn more about the Neuroscience Specialty Training Program

As a Primary Stroke Center, we offer exceptional patient care paired with excellent neurosurgery services.

The Flagstaff Medical Center Neuroscience Specialty RN Training Program is an eight-week program for experienced critical care nurses. This program is focused on neuroanatomy, neurological assessment and the complex care of patients with traumatic brain injury, stroke or spinal cord injury.

This course provides an overview of the medical and surgical management of ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke.

Additionally, expert lecture is provided on topics such as brain tumors; cerebral aneurysms; epilepsy; neurologic medications used in the critical care setting; and neuro rehabilitation.

This program also includes:

  • Observational experiences in the neurosurgery operating room.
  • Shadow days with professional members of the Neuroscience nursing team.
  • Participation in hands-on enrichment activities.
