Specialties of the Nurse Residency Program

Specialty availability is dependent on unit need and preceptor availability. Please check the residency posting on the Northern Arizona Healthcare careers webpage for the most current information on specialty offerings.

For each specialty, trainees are assessed for practice readiness on an individual basis. Transition to practice will be determined by factors such as time management, resource utilization, delegation, critical thinking development, communication and ability to practice safely.

Throughout orientation, the nurse resident will be supported by their unit manager, unit-based nurse education specialist, preceptor and residency coordinator. Their assigned educator will schedule check-ins bi-weekly (at minimum) throughout training, to provide support and ensure clinical progress of the nurse resident.
