Northern Arizona Healthcare updates visitation guidelines as COVID-19 levels increase

COVID-19

Northern Arizona Healthcare (NAH) announced today it is escalating to enhanced limited visitation guidelines due to medium community level spread of COVID-19. The goes into effect on Tuesday, June 28 at 10 a.m. at all NAH health care facilities. The change is necessary to ensure the highest quality care within the safest environment for patients and staff.

NAH understands how important it is to visit a loved one who is in the hospital or to accompany them to a doctor’s visit. General visitation, including the Emergency Department, allows for up to two visitors per day, excluding COVID-positive patients, who may have one visitor per day for one hour.

Other visitation guidelines:

  • In most instances, Labor and Delivery patients may have two healthy support people per day. Exceptions may apply.
  • Pediatric patients are allowed both parents or two guardians.
  • Special Care Nursery patients are allowed two visitors per day who will be provided wristbands to identify them as approved visitors
  • Outpatient Surgery patients are allowed one visitor to accompany them before and after surgery.
  • Outpatient and Adult Ambulatory patients are allowed one visitor to accompany them to their medical appointment. Pediatric outpatients are allowed two parents or guardians.

This updated visitation policy is based on guidance from our local, state, and national partners.

Visitors will be asked to follow certain requirements to help protect the health and safety of all other visitors, patients, and NAH staff. Visitors must continue to follow certain requirements including wearing a surgical mask at all times, checking in with attendants before proceeding to a patient’s room and wearing a visitor identification badge. Visitors who do not have an approved mask will be provided one at the entrance.
