The inpatient pharmacies at Flagstaff Medical Center and Verde Valley Medical Center use the latest technology to provide you with safe and cost-effective medications during your hospital stay.
Our evidence-based approach improves overall care by making sure you receive the medication therapy you need, when you need it. Open 24 hours a day, our knowledgeable staff can meet all your medication needs – from consults with your physician to compounding a special prescription.
What we do
Our experienced pharmacists and technicians work with your healthcare team to design, implement and monitor your medication plans.
Because your needs are unique, we use advanced safety measures to provide you with the best care possible. Our services include:
- Pharmacists who review and verify every computerized medication order for safety and efficacy.
- Patient consults and medication therapy management.
- Serving as a drug information resource to you, your family and your healthcare team.
- Monitoring patients for adverse drug interactions and intravenous medication compatibilities.
Every pharmacist rotates through the central dispensing pharmacy and clinical areas, such as orthopedics, behavioral health, pediatrics, women’s health, maternity, surgery and critical care.
Our pharmacy technicians not only help pharmacists prepare and distribute medications, they also check supplies to make sure the right amount of medication is in stock. The result? A more knowledgeable team and a healthier patient.

Innovation
With our advanced pharmaceutical equipment, it takes only seconds to dispense medications compared to a process that used to take 30 minutes or longer. As a result, our inpatient pharmacy dispenses medication with less wait time. In addition, our pharmacy team uses innovative technology to:
- Provide real-time patient care and reduce processing time.
- Automate medication delivery and simplify the storage and retrieval of medications.
- Retrieve patient medication orders in seconds and evaluate for drug interactions and incompatibilities.
- Automate the creation of compounded medications such as total parenteral nutrition and intravenous antibiotics.
