Northern Arizona Healthcare (NAH) is pleased to announce plans for a new outpatient surgery center in central Flagstaff. The project is a complete interior remodel and expansion of the former Summit Center at 1485 N. Turquoise Drive. This project is the beginning of NAH reimagining the outpatient environment that was originally planned for the Acute Care Center at Fort Tuthill and responding to community feedback about keeping some health care services centrally located. In keeping with NAH’s original plans for Fort Tuthill, consideration for the environment will be taken at every step in the development to ensure that the building will be more sustainable and energy efficient than it currently is now.
The project will include the following:
- 27,600 Square Foot Ambulatory Surgery Center:
- Six Operating Rooms and Two Pain Procedure Rooms
- 32 Pre-Op and Patient Care Area Bays
- 4,700 Square Foot Wound and Hyperbaric Clinic:
- Two Hyperbaric Chambers with the potential for an additional chamber
- Six Exam Rooms
- 14,800 Square Foot Orthopedic and Neurosurgery Clinic
- Two X-Rays and 3-Bay Casting Area
- 27 Exam Rooms and Two Procedure Rooms
- 5,200 Square Foot EntireCare Rehab & Sports Medicine Physical Therapy
The plans include a 6,000 square foot addition to the existing building.
“We have heard our community’s concerns about keeping some health care services in a central location within Flagstaff,” said Dave Cheney, CEO of Northern Arizona Healthcare. “We want to invest in the community, and that includes investing in our facilities that will help us recruit new staff. Therefore, we decided to renovate an existing NAH-owned building for an expanded outpatient surgery center. We know that these new facilities will help meet the needs of the patients and communities we serve,” added Cheney.
The projected timeline for the project includes final design and permit completed in 2024, construction completed by January 2026, with the first patient being seen by July 2026.
