Mackenzie Lurie, Physician Assistant, has been named Northern Arizona Healthcare Flagstaff Medical Center’s 2019 Inaugural Advanced Practice Provider, or APP, of the Year. Mackenzie is recognized for her amazing attitude, respect for colleagues and for the skilled, compassionate care she provides our patients.

This is the first year FMC is awarding an advanced practice provider nominated by his or her colleagues based on the values of Northern Arizona Healthcare – Do amazing work, Respect differences, Build community, Be better together and Show compassion. The award aims to select a provider who not only excels at patient care, but one who goes above and beyond in patient safety and quality, and who is an engaged member of her or his community.

Mackenzie works in FMC’s cardiology department and Cath Lab, and sees patients in the Emergency Department, on telemetry floors and in the Intensive Care Unit.

“I greatly enjoy coming to work every day and helping the patients in our community,” Mackenzie said. “I am able to talk with them to help diagnose their cardiac pathology, aid in their treatment and educate them regarding their cardiac care. I love talking with both patients and colleagues.”

The colleagues Mackenzie works alongside say she is the glue that holds the cardiology department together. She shows compassion for her patients, always has a smile on her face and always makes herself available for a cardiology consult. Mackenzie is valued for the way she communicates with patients and families in a kind, patient manner, taking time to educate them on procedures and follow-ups.

Mackenzie is involved in the running community in Flagstaff and keeps herself busy with her two children’s activities. When she’s not at work, she enjoys running, skiing and being with her family.

Thank you and congratulations to Mackenzie for all she does for NAH and our community!
