Holbrook Unified School District students have robust career discussion and tour at Northern Arizona Healthcare’s Flagstaff Medical Center Campus

Students from the Holbrook Unified School District middle school newspaper club excitedly visited Northern Arizona Healthcare’s Flagstaff Medical Center campus on Monday, Nov. 18, 2019. The goal was to learn about NAH as well as various career opportunities in the healthcare industry. Executive Assistant Alanna Mallery hosted the students throughout the afternoon.

“It was a great opportunity for NAH colleagues to share their passion with local students,” Mallery said. “‘Be Better Together’ is one of our core values, and this was a common theme and also brought to life as colleagues described their day to day work. The students enjoyed learning about different careers and the variety of paths that led colleagues to NAH.”

Students met with colleagues representing departments across NAH, including the Communications department, where they spoke with Internal Communications Coordinator Andrew Paffrath about education required to work as a communications leader in healthcare, his passions and NAH’s culture and Values.

Their stop also included a discussion and photoshoot with Visual Communications Specialist Sean Openshaw.

“It was a lot of fun to hang out with them and see them interact with other colleagues,” Openshaw said. “They ask great questions and seemed to be very interested in the hospital and all the different kinds of jobs they learned about.”

Thanks to everyone who helped build community by hosting these special guests and speaking with them about the bright future of healthcare!
