The annual holiday lighting ceremony at Northern Arizona Healthcare’s Flagstaff Medical Center on Thursday, Dec. 6, featured games, cookie decorating, a visit from Santa and music from the Sweet Sounds children’s choir.
Each year, FMC honors patients, or Flagstaff community members, by choosing them to flip the holiday lighting switch.
Katy Wilkens, RN, chief nursing officer at FMC, introduced the two Children’s Health Center patients who were honored this year.
The first honoree was Messiah, a beloved, active, loving and inspirational patient who has been cared for most of his life at the CHC. Messiah uses many of our services, including therapies, dietary and special medical clinics. Earlier this year, Messiah received one of our Go Baby Go cars to promote more independent mobility.
The second honoree was Andy, a sweet first grader who enjoys spinning toys, Christmas ornaments, running around, and turning lights on and off. He has been receiving therapies and medical care at CHC since he was three years old.
Both honorees were thrilled by the opportunity to light up FMC with good cheer and holiday joy.
