Family and Friends CPR and Safety for Infants and Children (Cottonwood)

This American Heart Association safety course is designed for parents, family, friends, and care-givers of infants and children. Attendees will learn how to respond to and deliver CPR and relieve choking to manage emergency illness and injury until professional help arrives.

Topics also include injury prevention, environmental emergencies and car seat education. Attendees will receive an American Heart Association booklet for this course. This is a non-certification course, so participants will not need to take an examination upon completion of the course. The $20 tuition price is for two people. This class is offered in partnership with the Flagstaff Exchange Club.

This seven-hour class is designed for people with busy schedules or for those expectant parents who live outside Flagstaff. Topics include in-depth information on the labor and childbirth process, role of the support person, comfort measures, medications, anesthesia and relaxation and breathing techniques. Plan to attend this class prior to 34 weeks of pregnancy. The $65 tuition is for two people – the mother and her partner.

Parenting 101: Birth and Beyond

Parenting 101 offers expecting and new parents an exciting evening of important parenting and infant development information. Topics include sleep, nutrition, development, signs of illness, managing parental stress and healthy family adaptation to a new baby. Attend this class before or after your baby is born. This class is a must for all expecting and new first-time parents. Babies are welcome!

Preparing for Birth

This three-week series is for those who may not be able to attend an all-day Saturday class and who prefer to have more breathing and relaxation practice sessions and more opportunities to interact with other expecting parents. Topics include labor and delivery; relaxation and breathing techniques with three practice sessions; comfort measures and coping strategies; medications; inductions; epidurals; c-sections; and the role of the support person.
