What is the process to become a volunteer?

To become a volunteer, you will complete the following:

  • Interview
  • Education modules
  • Employee Health screening

Which NAH programs can I volunteer for?

Volunteer at our healthcare facilities in Flagstaff, Cottonwood, Sedona and Camp Verde.

What is the time commitment expected of volunteers?

Volunteering at NAH requires a weekly commitment of 2-4 hours

Am I required to be vaccinated?

During your onboarding process, you will be asked about the following vaccines:

  • Hepatitis B vaccine
  • COVID vaccine (recommended, not required)
  • Flu shot (The flu vaccine is required during flu season. If you decline the vaccine, you must wear a mask during flu season.)
  • MMR (proof of 2 doses)
  • Varicella (proof of 2 doses)
  • TB skin tests (two tests required) or a blood draw to rule out TB
  • Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis)
Can I volunteer if I am under 18 years of age?

We do have a teen volunteer program for individuals 16-17 years of age. Teenage volunteers must complete the “Teen Volunteer Application Form.” The list of volunteer roles specifies which areas are open to teen volunteers and which require the volunteer to be 18 or older.

Who can I contact to discuss volunteer opportunities?

Most information regarding available volunteer roles is on our website. We do not place individuals on a waiting list as you should check periodically for new openings. Other questions can be sent to [email protected].

After I finish onboarding, am I guaranteed my first-choice volunteer role?

Only complete the application if your area of preference has openings. We will communicate with you before onboarding to work on your schedule.

Can I volunteer if I live here part-time?

Yes. We will assist you with planning your schedule once your application is received. Please note, volunteer shifts will not be held for anyone taking a leave of absence greater than one month.

Do I need an email address?

A valid email address is required as important information is sent through email.

I am unable to stand for long periods. Do all the volunteer positions involve standing?

Accommodations are available for a wide range of volunteer positions. Contact Volunteer Services to discuss specific needs.

I am a college student, can I get volunteer hours?

We have many volunteer roles assigned to clinical areas, such as our inpatient nursing units. These roles are open to all applicants, including students. While volunteers are limited in scope of service, you can interact with patients and staff in clinical areas.

Can I shadow clinicians?

Volunteer Services does not manage shadowing opportunities. You can contact our HR department to set up shadowing roles by emailing [email protected].
