Community businesses donate to NAH programs supporting breast and child wellness

We are thankful for the generosity from our wonderful community who were inspired to donate, knowing that these dollars will go toward helping the fight against breast cancer, as well as benefiting pediatric patients at CHC.

Bashas’ Family of Stores recently presented two checks totaling more than $67,000 to Northern Arizona Healthcare (NAH). Customers at the Northern Arizona locations of Bashas’ and Food City generously donated through Bashas’ Family of Stores Charity of the Month program through the months of September and October. This program gives customers the opportunity to give back to the community by making a monetary donation at the register to selected local charities. Bashas’ and Food City’s total contributions to NAH programs this year were $67,439.33.

NAH’s Children’s Health Center (CHC) was the beneficiary of the September Charity of the Month program at all Northern Arizona Bashas’ and Bashas’ Diné Market locations. The CHC team, which includes dedicated specialty healthcare providers, is committed to providing one-on-one care for children. The total amount raised for the CHC in the month of September was $31,533.09. CHC provides evaluation and treatment of children through medical, rehabilitative and psycho-social intervention. The pediatric outpatient programs include detailed evaluations, treatment and medical rehabilitation. The comprehensive services include:

NAH’s Breast Health Program, a program that helps in the fight against breast cancer, was the beneficiary of the October Charity of the month program at all Northern Arizona Bashas’, Food City and Bashas’ Diné Market locations. Throughout the month of October, stores raised $35,906.24 to go toward the program. The NAH Breast Health Program is a nationally accredited center of excellence in breast cancer care. The program attained a full 3-year accreditation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers in December of 2019, and many women travel from far outside our service region to experience its “brand” of breast cancer care. The program treats over 300 newly diagnosed women and men on an annual basis.

“We are very grateful to Bashas’ for choosing important NAH programs as the recipients of their monthly charity program,” said NAH’s Chief Philanthropy Officer, Larry Kushner. “We are thankful for the generosity from our wonderful community who were inspired to donate, knowing that these dollars will go toward helping the fight against breast cancer, as well as benefiting pediatric patients at CHC.”
