Northern Arizona Healthcare considers changes in facility use, based on community need

Northern Arizona Healthcare (NAH) is committed to delivering high-quality healthcare close to home for all communities we have the honor to serve. We continue to adapt our care, services and use of NAH facilities, based on community needs.

Located in Cottonwood, NAH’s Valley View Care has offered assisted living services and end-of-life care to those without support to stay in their own home. Over the course of the pandemic, and specifically over the last year, referrals and patient volume at Valley View Care dramatically declined, ultimately reaching a state of no referrals and a census of zero this spring. As a result of this, Northern Arizona Healthcare has temporarily ceased operations of the facility and is carefully analyzing community needs, additional services that may be offered, and best use of the facility moving forward. The organization expects to make a final decision over the next 45-60 days, and will collaborate with community and referral sources, among several groups, in the process. In addition, we are reaching out to major donors who contributed resources to Valley View Care as we intend to respect and honor their contributions.

“Ceasing operations at this campus is not an easy decision, but necessary due to changing needs represented in an extensive period of no referrals and ultimately no patients at Valley View Care. NAH remains committed to our communities. We have not stopped offering end-of-life services, and we will retain ownership of this building,” said Josh Tinkle, Northern Arizona Healthcare Chief Operating Officer. “As part of the process, we’ve also reassigned all NAH colleagues at that location, whom requested new assignments. Those colleagues have also been trained as needed, and remain valued employees within the organization.”

Since the cease of operations in April, no new referrals or requests for care have been requested at Valley View Care.
