Mountain Heart becomes Northern Arizona Healthcare Cardiology on April 22

Access to high-quality care is vital to the health and well-being of our patients with cardiovascular healthcare needs. This is especially true during uncertain times, which is why Northern Arizona Healthcare is committed to making sure hearts are well cared for, now and always.

As of  Wednesday, April 22, we will assume operations of Northern Arizona Healthcare Cardiology Flagstaff, formerly Mountain Heart. The clinic, in the same location at 2000 S. Thompson St. in Flagstaff, will become part of a larger plan to integrate cardiology care across northern Arizona.

Mountain Heart cardiology services in Cottonwood will be combined with those we offer at the Heart and Vascular Center of Northern Arizona.

“Northern Arizona Healthcare’s vision for cardiology is for everyone in our communities to receive consistent, expert care close to home,” said Josh Tinkle, Northern Arizona Healthcare Chief Administrative Officer in Flagstaff. “We’ve worked with the team at Mountain Heart since January to ensure a smooth transition for them and our patients. The COVID-19 crisis has not stalled the transition of ownership to Northern Arizona Healthcare, however, we will be taking the same precautions in this clinic as we are in our other outpatient settings.”

COVID-19 precautions in place at our outpatient clinics include postponing appointments that are not urgent, moving visits to telehealth when possible and continuing to see patients who require immediate attention.

Sleep labs in Flagstaff and Cottonwood, formerly operated by Mountain Heart, will be closed while COVID-19 precautions are in place and reopen in their current locations when they are lifted.

We purchased Mountain Heart in January upon the retirement of owner and cardiologist Dr. Kent Winkler.

Patients may call 928-226-6400 to schedule appointments in Flagstaff and 928-634-1331 in Cottonwood.
