Medical/Surgical Certification Review Course for Nurses

This program has been designed to provide an overview of medical/surgical nursing in the acute care setting for the RN who wishes to review basic nursing concepts. The class content offered will help the nurse who is preparing for the Medical/Surgical certification examination.

Eligibility Criteria for AMSN Certification exam:

Hold current RN License.
Minimum of 2 full years, of Adult Med/ Surg clinical nursing experience.
Accrued a minimum of 2,000 hours of clinical practice in Adult Med/Surg clinical setting as a staff nurse in the past 3 years.

Objectives

By the end of the course, the nurse will be able to identify/discuss the following related to each of the topic areas:

System anatomy/physiology
Selected pathophysiology
Nursing assessment & care coordination
Common laboratory & diagnostic tests
Nursing interventions
Patient education
Case scenario practice & review

Credits

Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 10612 for 12 contact hours.

April 16 and April 23, 2020
Oct. 15 and Oct. 22, 2020

Location

At Flagstaff Medical Center, the courses will be held in the Northern Arizona Healthcare Training Center, located at the west end of Fort Valley Shopping Center, 1000 N. Humphreys, Suite 241-242.
