Congratulations! You are expecting a baby and it is an exciting time. Our Childbirth Education, or CBE, team at Verde Valley Medical Center is here to help you and your family prepare for this experience. We offer a variety of classes and services to give you the information and assistance you will need for birth and beyond. Classes are taught by Labor and Delivery nurses and certified, specially trained healthcare professionals. Early registration is recommended, as classes fill up quickly.
For more information on all CBE classes, please contact the Education Department at 928-773-2491.
This class is offered as a four-week series. Topics include labor, delivery, and the postpartum period; relaxation and breathing techniques (with practice); comfort measures and coping strategies; medications; inductions; epidurals; C-sections; and the role of the support person. A physician from Anesthesia conducts an anesthesia Q&A session during the series. We also cover nutrition during pregnancy and breastfeeding; breastfeeding and feeding your baby; newborn care; and what to expect when you go home. Plan to finish the series prior to 34 weeks of pregnancy. The $40 tuition is for two people – the mother and her partner.
