The Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) Course is taught concurrently with the Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) for physicians. This program is presented by the Society of Trauma Nurses in cooperation with The American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma. This course was developed to teach established standards of trauma care and practical lifesaving skills. This course is designed for the nurse working in Emergency Departments, Intensive Care Units, the Prehospital Setting or any department related to trauma care.
This course includes didactic presentations on initial assessment, airway management, abdominal trauma, thoracic trauma, shock, head and spinal cord trauma, burns, extremity trauma, pediatric trauma, trauma in pregnancy, and stabilization and transportation. Coupled with the lectures are corresponding practical skill stations and moulage assessment stations which demonstrate application of didactic information.
ATCN Student Refresher
This course is designed for nurses who completed an ATCN course within the past four years and wish to reverify their ATCN. A copy of current ATCN provider card must be provided at the time of application.
Credits
Provider course approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 11062 for 19.0 CE contact hours. Refresher course approved for 8.0 CE contact hours.

Location
At Flagstaff Medical Center, the courses will be held in the Northern Arizona Healthcare Training Center, located at the west end of Fort Valley Shopping Center, 1000 N. Humphreys, Suite 241-242.
In Phoenix, courses will be held at ValleyWise Health - Administration Bldg, 2601 E. Roosevelt.
