Advanced Cardiac Life Support for Experienced Providers

The Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support for Experienced Providers (ACLS EP) Course is designed primarily for seasoned healthcare providers who manage complex cardiovascular, respiratory and other emergencies. Through didactic instruction and active participation in case-based scenarios, learners will enhance their skills in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiopulmonary prearrest, arrest, and postrarrest patients. The goal of the ACLS EP Course is to improve outcomes in complex cardiovascular, respiratory, and other emergencies by expanding on core ACLS​ guidelines with the use of critical decision making strategies.
 

Prerequisites

  • Mastery of ACLS Principles
  • Proficiency in performing BLS
  • Understanding of the ACLS Algorithms
  • Rapid and accurate rhythm recognition and ACLS pharmacology
 

Objectives

  • Demonstrate proficiency in providing basic life support care, including prioritizing chest compressions and integrating use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).
  • Recognize and manage respiratory arrest.
  • Recognize and manage cardiac arrest until termination of resuscitation or transfer of care, including immediate post-cardiac arrest care.
  • Demonstrate effective communication as a leader or member of a resuscitation team and recognize the impact of team dynamics on overall team performance.
  • Apply the systematic approach to assessment, evaluation, and management of complete cardiovascular, respiratory, and other emergencies.
 

Preparation

The ACLS-EP Course requires the learner to complete and pass an online ACLS-EP exam prior to coming to Day 1 of class. Upon registering for the class, you will be emailed a link to this online exam. You must bring proof of completion with you to class.
 

Credits

Provider Course - 7.5 hours
 
Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 10612 for the CE contact hours as listed above.
 
Flagstaff Medical Center is accredited by the Arizona Medical Association to provide Continuing Medical Education for physicians.
 
Flagstaff Medical Center designates these live activities for a maximum of (hours as listed per course) AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

At Flagstaff Medical Center, the courses will be held in the Northern Arizona Healthcare Training Center, located at the west end of Fort Valley Shopping Center, 1000 N. Humphreys, Suite 241-242.
