Children's Health Center

Children’s Health Center new clinic location coming soon!

To best meet the health and wellness needs of children in our area, including the addition of a one of a kind adaptive playground, the Children’s Health Center (CHC), will relocate to an outpatient location at 5130 N. Highway 89 in Flagstaff. The CHC will begin to provide services at the new location in the fall of 2020. Until then, all services will continue to be provided at 1215 N. Beaver Street in Flagstaff.

The goal when looking for a new space was to find a location that would better accommodate new programs, allow easier parking and access from the freeway and create a place where children and young adults feel comfortable and safe. - Jon Cook, director of rehabilitation services at Northern Arizona Healthcare.

As northern Arizona continues to expand, the need for healthcare for children and young adults expands as well. The new location allows Northern Arizona Healthcare to serve more families and meet the growing needs of our communities in need of general pediatric wellness and specialty services. The newly renovated building will have an increased number of exam rooms, in addition to much increased specialized physical, speech, and occupational therapy gym space, and an adaptive playground that at this time is the only one of its kind in Arizona. An adaptive playground is a playground that allows children of all ages and abilities to play together. It’s wheelchair accessible and helps to develop physical, cognitive, sensory and social skills. Adaptive playgrounds also provide a platform for social equity and allows entire families of all ages to enjoy time together.

The current space in which The CHC resides hinders the possibility of adding new services and expanding the chance to serve more members of our communities in northern Arizona. "With the addition of these rooms, at this new location, families will have greater access to expert pediatric care close to home. More space equals more opportunity to offer new and improved programs to the already diverse medical services we have," Cook states.
