Mended Hearts Program in Flagstaff

Our Mended Hearts support groups offer heart patients and their families the emotional support they need during hospitalization and recovery.

Mended Hearts volunteers, all survivors of heart disease, visit patients in the hospital and attend support group meetings. By sharing their personal experiences, these volunteers offer encouragement to and inspire hope in patients.

The Flagstaff chapter of Mended Hearts meets monthly. For more information or to join the group, call Mended Hearts at 480-203-5631.

Cardiac rehabilitation education

Patients who have had open heart surgery, heart attacks, coronary stent placement or heart failure receive comprehensive inpatient education from a multidisciplinary team of registered nurses, cardiac rehabilitation educators, respiratory therapists, registered dietitians, pharmacists, care coordinators and clinical social workers. Patients learn pertinent information about diagnoses, procedures, nutrition, exercise and risk factors. When appropriate, patients will be referred to outpatient cardiac rehabilitation programs.
