Event Series Event Series (See All)

July 19, 2024 @ 9:00 am 5:00 pm

Congratulations! You are expecting a baby and it is an exciting time. The members of our Childbirth Education team at Flagstaff Medical Center are here to help you and your family prepare for this experience. We offer a variety of classes and services to give you the information and assistance you will need for birth and beyond. Classes are taught by Labor and Delivery nurses as well as certified and specially trained healthcare professionals. Early registration is recommended, as classes fill up quickly.

Course Description

This seven-hour class is designed for people with busy schedules or for those expectant parents who live outside Flagstaff. Topics include in-depth information on the labor and childbirth process, role of the support person, comfort measures, medications, anesthesia and relaxation and breathing techniques. Plan to attend this class prior to 34 weeks of pregnancy. The $65 tuition is for two people – the mother and her partner.

This class meets on a Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and includes a one-hour lunch break on your own.

You will need to have the following items handy at home for your class: 2 to 4 pillows, a bath towel and a blanket for floor exercises and a pen and paper to take notes. You will also need a refillable water bottle to use throughout the day. Feel free to have some snacks on hand for you and your labor partner. Be sure to wear comfortable, stretchy clothes.

I thoroughly enjoyed my Labor Basics class. It was a very positive, educational experience and was much better than I anticipated
