This area includes, but is not limited to, Cottonwood, Clarkdale, Camp Verde, Jerome, Prescott, and Sedona.

Scope of Library Services:

Informational and Educational Resources: The Library provides current medical books and access to the Internet to meet the informational and educational needs of the medical and nursing staffs, administrative and ancillary departments. Currently, the Library does not loan its books due to its limited collection. A copier is available for patrons to photocopy portions of text as long as they are in compliance with the Copyright Law of the United States, Title 17, United States Code, which governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted materials.

Information Services: The Library provides reference responses to phone, e-mail and in-person requests. The Library will compile computerized bibliographies and process interlibrary loan requests in a timely manner. The Internet is utilized as an information resource for the medical community and the public. The Library is a member of the Arizona Health Information Network (AZHIN) which is a cooperative network that provides a foundation for knowledge-based information supporting health care practice and training in Arizona. AZHIN provides electronic access to the literature databases most used by physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and allied health professionals. The databases include MEDLINE, CINAHL, Health Business Fulltext Elite, Stat!Ref, and other internet resources. (For a complete description of accessible databases, journals and other mentioned resources, visit the AZHIN website at www.azhin.org.

The library associate performs searches for patrons and/or will assist patrons that choose to search on their own. Training for any of these systems is provided on an as-needed/as-requested basis. AZHIN can be accessed from an office or home computer by any physician or staff member that has been issued a password by the VVMC AZHIN Library director. AZHIN is provided by Verde Valley Medical Center at no cost to its users.
