Who We Are
Guardian Air, a division of Flagstaff Medical Center, is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the emergency transport needs of Northern Arizona, the Southwest Region and Native American Nations. Owned and operated out of Flagstaff, AZ, since 1985 we have been providing 24 hour, seven day a week helicopter and fixed-wing service to the communities we live in.
As a non-profit organization our number one priority is patient care. Our purpose is to ensure that members of our communities have access to the highest level of critical care transport available. Guardian Air believes that each flight mission is as individual as the patient. As patient care providers, we work cooperatively with other departments and facilities to deliver optimal patient care.
The medical flight team includes registered nurses, respiratory therapists and paramedics who are under the direction of four licensed medical directors. Crewmembers are required to maintain certifications to be prepared to respond to on-scene and hospital-to-hospital transports around the clock. Team members are cross-trained to provide specialty care for adult, pediatric, maternal and neonatal patients, and are skilled in the management of advanced airway ventilators, intra-aortic balloon pumps and isolettes.
Guardian Air operates a dedicated 800 telephone line for physicians and/or referring parties to request transport services. A communication specialist/transport coordinator is available at all times to initiate a mission, serve as mission control, broadcast information, coordinate transports and follow flights through Outerlink and Skyconnect software.
At Guardian Air, we strive towards the goal of providing better and faster service to our communities. A part of that is expanding and improving the services we offer. Guardian Air is now working with Guardian Medical Transport to provide Northern Arizona with critical care ground transport for bariatric, non-flyable weather conditions, and patients whose needs are better met by ground transport.
