Requirements to be a Flight RN with Guardian Air
- Minimum of three years experience as an RN (Level I Trauma Center ER experience or ICU (PICU, CVICU, MSICU, and/or TICU) experience preferred)
- ACLS
- PALS
- NRP
- CPR for the Healthcare Provider
- Within 1 year of hire obtain CEN, CCRN, and/or CFRN (If obtained pre-hire preference given)
- Within 1 year of hire obtain acceptable trauma course certification (TNATC, ATLS (Audit), and/ or ATCN)
Requirements to be a Flight Paramedic with Guardian Air
- Minimum of three years experience as a Paramedic (Call Volume in excess of 1000 runs per year preferred)
- ACLS
- PALS
- NRP
- CPR for the Healthcare Provider
- Within 1 year of hire obtain acceptable trauma course certification (TNATC, ATLS (Audit), and/or ATCN)
- Highly encouraged! Within 1 year of hire obtain CCEMTP and/or FP-C certification (If obtained pre-hire preference given)
Hiring Process
Phase 1 (Day 1): Pre-screening / Physical Agility Test / Written Exam Candidates will be pre-screening for the above minimum requirements. Following pre-screening a successful candidate will be invited to the first day of the hiring process, which consists of a Physical Agility Test and Written Examination.
Physical Agility Test:
- 75 lbs stationary lift
- Fixed Wing Emergency Egress Simulator
- 220 lb maximum body weight (weigh in)
- 30 minute 2 mile walk (At Altitude of 7000' ASL)
Written Examination:
- 100 multiple choice questions that must be completed within 60 minutes
Phase 2 (Day 2): Practical Skills Scenarios
Each candidate must complete 2 practical skills scenarios that can be of any type for which Guardian Air commonly transports. Guardian Air commonly transports both traumatic and medical patients from any of the following categories: Geriatric, Adult, Pediatric, Maternal, and Neonatal. These scenario stations are timed and must be completed within 15 minutes.
Phase 3 (Day 3): Oral Interview
Each candidate is given a series of standardized questions without time limit to answer satisfactorily. The format for the interview is a panel of peers and managers and questions are asked randomly to each candidate.
Phase 4 (Day 4): Optional Ride A Long
For candidates who may live out of the geographic area which Guardian Air serves, we will offer a 24 hour shift for the candidate to fly along with crew members from our Flagstaff Base. This allows the candidate to interview us and make sure we are a good fit for them prior to committing to a major move into the area.
