October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Now is the perfect time to learn how to identify this disease early through monthly exams. The Breast Cancer Resource Center is offering free breast self-exam instruction classes for employees and the community during the month of October. The free, one-hour classes are conducted by a certified breast health navigator and breast self-exam instructor.

	Education We are committed to excellence in education and offer healthcare professionals and the public a wide range of training programs. Training is also available to the public for Heartsaver First Aid, Basic Life Support, and Safe Sitters.
	Childbirth Education The staff in the Childbirth Education Department is here to help you and your family prepare for this experience. We offer a variety of classes and services to give you the information and assistance you will need for birth and beyond. Classes are taught by Labor and Delivery nurses and certified and specially trained healthcare professionals. Early registration is recommended, as classes fill up quickly.
	Support Groups Flagstaff Medical Center has a number of support groups that meet on campus. If you are interested in attending any of these meeting, please refer to the contact information on our Support Group calendar.
	Cancer Center Because cancer is a family disease, support groups offer families and friends an opportunity to share their feelings and ideas about the journey when a loved one has cancer. Sometimes just knowing others are having a similar experience can be both comforting and healing.
	Bariatric Surgical Weight Loss Program These support groups are open to all bariatric patients, regardless of where they have had surgery. We encourage patients planning on surgery to attend at least one support group prior to surgery. There are also Information Sessions available.
	Spine and Joint Center The Spine and Joint Surgery Center offers FREE weekly Education Seminars for patients scheduled to have joint replacement surgery. FMC's orthopedic surgeons highly recommend this seminar to better prepare patients and their families for their upcoming surgery.
	Therapy Services The Physical, Occupational, Speech and Massage Therapy Departments at Flagstaff Medical Center are here to help patients improve their quality of life. Whether it is recovering from an illness or an injury, or wanting to be in top condition for sports, career or your day-to-day life, we can offer inpatients and outpatients the treatment options, education and support they need.
