About Verde Valley

Welcome to the Verde Valley

The Verde Valley stretches from Mingus Mountain – just east of Prescott Valley – to the Mogollon Rim, south of Flagstaff.

The 1,200 square miles of the Verde Valley encompass the cities of Cottonwood, Clarkdale, Jerome, Camp Verde, Sedona, Cornville, Lake Montezuma/Rimrock and the Verde Villages, a large unincorporated community.

Elevations range from approximately 3,000 feet in historic Camp Verde, to more than 5,000 in the former mining town (and now thriving artist community) of Jerome.

The wide variety of elevations is reflected by an equally wide variety of terrain. Although geographically described as "high desert," newcomers are surprised to note the term means mountains, beautiful wild flowers, forests of cedars and junipers, creeks and rivers!

The Verde Valley lifestyle is casual and family-oriented. Residents enjoy great recreational opportunities such as hiking, biking, camping, horseback riding, hang-gliding and kayaking.

Inpatient and outpatient medical needs are served by Verde Valley Medical Center (VVMC) located in Cottonwood. The 99-bed full-service hospital, founded in 1939, continues to anticipate the medical needs of its growing population by service development and expansion.

Cottonwood lies 100 miles north of Phoenix's shopping, performing arts, sports centers and universities (including Arizona State University) and 45 miles south of Flagstaff's skiing, shopping and their university, Northern Arizona University.
